The African Business Roundtable (ABR) has been constituted as part of the national effort to achieve the objectives contained in Resolution A/Res/68/237 and A/Res/69/16 of the United Nations General Assembly in respect of the International Decade for People of African Descent and the Programme of Action therefor. In particular, those of paragraph 4 of UN Resolution A/Res/69/16. The ABR is therefore geared towards meeting objectives of National Development through the implementation of business initiatives that will help to grow the Guyana economy using a variety of strategies, including the sustainable development of Guyanese of African Descent in the business sector.
Towards these ends, the ABR will work with all persons, organizations, and institutions that seek to achieve the objectives of economic and social inclusion of people of African descent in the full enjoyment of Guyana’s patrimony in recognition of their uncompensated contribution to the development of Guyana, and in accordance with the objectives of the two UN resolutions in reference and the relevant provisions of the Guyana Constitution.
